Football Champions League
The Champions League is the most important football tournament played in Europe. The strongest teams from each European nation participate in this competition based on a score acquired, established and modifiable over the years. Real Madrid is the most famous club, followed by Milan and Liverpool. Let's now examine the history, formula and roll of honor of the Champions League or European Cup .The story
The Champions League is the most prestigious club football competition. This tournament was called the Champions Cup until 1992 and only teams that had won their national championships could participate. This sporting event evolved and in the 90s the second and third teams of the national championships were also admitted. The number of teams per nation is determined by an annual ranking. While previously the matches were knockout, now the qualifying groups are created by drawing lots. After this first phase, the knockout rule is resumed in a first-leg and second-leg match. As described, initially only the teams that came first in the national championships participated in this competition. The tournament was a knockout tournament and after having passed the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals, the two remaining teams played, in a single match, the final of the Champions Cup . In 1992 – 1993, qualifying rounds were tested and were very successful. The current formula was created in 2009 and is highly appreciated by all the national football federations. The current regulation
The present formula was enacted in 2009 and further changed the previous regulations. The participating teams are chosen according to the following criteria: The directly authorized teams are 22:- the reigning champions
- the 4 teams of the 3 best championships
- the 2 teams of the nations between the fourth and sixth places
- the first team of the nations between sixth and twelfth place
- The remaining ten places will be assigned through 4 preliminary rounds with first-leg and second-leg matches
- The 15 teams that fail to qualify for the Champions League will participate in the UEFA Europa League
