Aams, Autonomous Administration of State Monopolies , is an entity of the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance. This body manages public gaming, production and marketing. Aams , having verified the development of online gaming, issues laws for the regulation and security of the entire technological structure, ensuring professionalism and reliability. In 2012 Aams was assimilated into the Customs Agency. The latter changed its name to the Customs and Monopolies Agency (further information https://www.adm.gov.it/portale/monopoli/giochi/gioco_distanza/gioco_dist_concessionari ).
Aams is responsible for controlling the legality of the companies that offer the gaming product and compliance with Italian regulations on data security and responsible gaming. Aams has the authority for the following aspects:
- State functions and tax profile in the gaming sector
- control and management of video lotteries, bingo, entertainment tools without cash prizes, games of skill, lotto, lotteries and competitions
- betting
- superenalotto, win for life
The General Committee for Games, which operates within AAMS , administers and organizes games, bets and prediction competitions together with the Minister of Economy and Finance.
In the three types of game, AAMS provides:
In games of skill , such as online poker, the body has been controlling and authorising concessionaire licenses since 2008 and monitoring the game and payments for customer safety.
Sports betting until 1999 could not be played in Italy. Many foreign companies, which allowed sports predictions, were considered illegal. Only Italian and foreign online agencies, which obtain the AAMS license , can work legally in our country.
Video lotteries are entertainment tools. Even VLTs are now connected to a central server managed by the Italian control body. If administered and verified by Aams , they are legal.
How to get AAMS certification
The Italian supervisory body requires that companies must have passed the following requirements:
Presentation of the games, the platform, the random number generator and cyber security.
Software version of the game.
Payment of the sum of 350 thousand euros to the State.
Tax headquarters in Europe.
Corporate turnover of at least 1,500 thousand euros.
After the necessary and positive analyses, AAMS grants the Italian license to operate.
How to recognize a legal site
Companies that have passed the checks of the Revenue Agency and the Monopoly must display the AAMS license symbol, the number of the concession issued and the representative mark of Responsible Gaming on the home page of the site . Enthusiasts who bet on these sites must know that they are regulated and controlled by the Italian State.
At any time, they can call the attention of AAMS for any checks on the cards and payments as everything is regulated by this body. Companies that do not display these requirements are not legal for the Italian State. AAMS is committed to and supports the world of sport with educational, cultural, sporting and social initiatives to protect the customer.
